سلاح جدید و ترسناک وزارت دفاع آمریکا- پنتاگون- که در آینده بیشترین استفاده را در ارتش آمریکا خواهد داشت اینست.
برای ساخت این سلاح که حتی عکسهایش نیز ترس را القا می
کند از سریال مشهور Star Trek الهام گرفته شده است و با سیستم لبزر کار می
کند. این سلاح در آینده بیشترین استفاده را در ارتش آمریکا خواهد داشت.
سلاح جدید آمریکایی در لابراتوار پایگاه هوایی کیرتلند در ایالت نیومکزیکو به مرحله پیشرفت رسیده است.
این
اسلحه PHaSR یا The Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response نام دارد
و یک سلاح کاملا لیزری است. مانند سلاحهای دیگر کشنده نیست. دشمن فرضی به
محض تأثیر سلاح به صورت مقطعی اما دراز مدت کور می شود و جهت یابی اش
کاملا مختل می گردد. سلاح جدید که برمبنای تکنولوژی لیزر کار می کند
کیلومترها برد دارد. PHaSR مرمی ندارد اما دشمن فرضی را از فاصله 4
کیلومتری هدف قرار می دهد.
نكته:سازمان
ملل در سال 1995 استفاده از سلاحهای کورکننده را ممنوع اعلام نمود. اما
این سلاح با بقیه اسلحه های کور کننده فرق دارد و به دلیل استفاده از شدت
تابش لیزر کمتر، کوری مقطعی در اصابت شوندگان ایجاد می کند. به این ترتیب
این اسلحه جزء اسلحه های ممنوع اعلام شده سازمان ملل نیز نمی گردد.
برای سازندگان این اسلحه مخوف که در مارس 2006 عملیات پیشرفت آن به پایان رسید معادل 250 هزار دلار جایزه داده شده است
